Who has discovered the formula to calculate God?
Cos I sure would like to know it
Yesterday it was to fight, as His kingdom suffereth violence
Today, it is to stand still and see His salvation
Who has discovered the formula to calculate God?
Cos I sure would like to know it
Cos yesterday the preacher told me it’s my turn for increase
Two days later, a termination letter was all I had
Who has discovered the formula to calculate God?
Cos I sure would like to know it
Cos yesterday He told me to propose to sister, as she’s His will for me
But today, sister is with another brother at the altar
Who has discovered the formula to calculate God?
Cos I sure would like to know it
Cos Tina who had five abortions conceived on her wedding night
But I kept myself virtuous, yet remain childless after 10 years
Who has discovered the formula to calculate God?
Cos I sure would like to know it
Cos I was broke last year and asked Him for money and he provided the exact amount mysteriously
I was broke yesterday, I used the same prayer point, and in the same prayer room, but received no kobo
Who has discovered the formula to calculate God?
Cos I sure would like to know it
Cos two neighbours each had sickle cell kids, praying for a miracle with the same fervency
One kid died, while one had his genotype mysteriously change to AA at the age of 13
Who has discovered the formula to calculate God?
Cos I sure would like to know it
Cos sometimes I feel life would be easier
If only I could calculate what He would do next.
Cos I sure would like to know it
Yesterday it was to fight, as His kingdom suffereth violence
Today, it is to stand still and see His salvation

wow, this is deep, God is sovereign, that's all, and we can never fully understand him in our finite minds, that's why we need the holy spirit, you poem is very on point..., he asked the Israelites not to marry foreigners etc, yet he asked prophet Hosea to marry a prostitute, what can i say, his ways are past finding out ..bless you!
ReplyDeleteAbi o. Our finite minds cannot comprehend him
DeleteWow! This is lovely, very creative with a lot of precision. Me likey. Like I say always, keep @ it dearie....... the skies will bow to you. Best wishes
ReplyDeletePs- please in case anyone is able to get you the formula, let me know asap, I need it too.
Thanks. Amen to your prayers for me.
DeleteI am still waiting for the formula too. Will be sure to let you know when I find it
I loved reading this, very uplifting. No one knows Him more than we Christians but even then...
ReplyDeleteYes o, even we Christians cannot fully understand God
DeleteAnother poignant way of saying "His ways are not our ways". Very good one Atilola. Would love to hear this at this week's reading.
ReplyDeleteLol. I am sure you were not disappointed at the reading, even though you did not get to hear this
DeleteTwas on POINT! Look forward to hear this too sometime later.
DeleteI wish...
ReplyDelete@Priscy, me three!
I will give you when I discover the formula
DeleteI LOVE this.... My thoughts exactly
ReplyDeleteHE is unquestionable, and he has mercies on whom he will have mercy on....
Yea, so true
DeleteThis is the best you've written IMHO
ReplyDelete*Let us pray*
Lol. Really? I know sooooooo many people, including me, that will disagree. It just goes to show what you really appreciate
DeleteVery thought provoking poem with deeply rooted meanings.
ReplyDelete"As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts". Isaiah 55:9
When my belief in God is remotely challenged, then the above Bible passage provides the ultimate answer.
Yes, it really has deep meanings. and truly, we should look into the word when we face challenges
DeleteI thought of that verse too, Naija4life, as I read the poem. Beautiful contrasts @ilola. me likey!
Deleteyes...i love the way you illustrated how God cannot be understood. imagine if we could understand him, then he'll no longer be God. but what makes him God is the fact that he uses the foolish things of this world to confound the wise
ReplyDeleteand so, he is God, and will be God, no matter how people have highly misunderstood him.
i guess we'll find out more when we get to heaven because even we christians cannot give reasons for EVERYTHing God does but we know it all works out for good to those who love him and have been called according to His purpose
lovely poem
Truly. As a pastor I know will always say, let God be God. your comment reminds me of a song called Questions for Heaven by Chris Rice
Deleteummm..chris rice..will prob check him out.
Deletehey @ilola, my former blog is no more existent and so i would like you to check out my new one.thnx..and im happy for you concerning the antonyms of a mirage..yay!!!!...ur book made it. i will help u advertise as u said and i wont mind joining the competition oooo...**winks, smiles***

DeleteOkay. Checking it out now
Deleteastounding!just love this! *clapping*
ReplyDeleteThe bible said, HIS ways and thoughts are different from ours, just as the sky is higher from the earth....nobody knows HIS thoughts for they are deep.
I can never understand why HE favours some more than the others..ALAS! that is why HE IS JEHOVAH!
Praise the Lord!
I take a bow ma, thanks. We can never ever understand me.
DeleteI sometimes wish I could see the future and know what God has in plan for my life, especially when things are not going the way i planned. I like the illustrations.
ReplyDeleteThanks. Unfortunately, He won't show us the future, at least, not completely
DeleteLovely Poem! Although If we knew the formaula God will seem predictable, boring and inadvertently be relegated to the background...
ReplyDeleteVery true o. God has to keep being relevant in our lives
DeleteWow! Another awesome read. Chei! You this lady, you dey burst my brain o! God is simply awesome, unquestionable and sometimes when I try imagine how he does the things He does, i find myself developing a serious headache or worse, migraine. There is no searching of His understanding. No one can ever understand the Almighty's formula! Mathematicians can try if they wish and they'll be sooooo disappointed.
ReplyDeleteAwww, now my head is swelling. Lets not even bother, we can never calculate him.
Deletewow!!! this your write up is really deep..
ReplyDeleteGod is God all by himself, that's all I can say
Awww. Thanks.
DeleteYes, he doesn't need us to be God
i enjoyed this. nice one. Really no one can predict or question God. The good thing is that he has the best will for our lives. We just need to trust him and let go ....though I won't lie it hurts sometimes. rily nice
ReplyDeleteMovies!!....Movies.... Watch New Movies @ http://cinema.mingleparks.com
DeleteThis is a very nice poem.Questions are in the minds of people when it comes to God and His ways, but no man can totally understand the ways of God.
ReplyDeleteIt's been a while o!
Yeah, No man can understand o.
DeleteIts been a while ke? I never left blogsville sha, you just didn't come around as often?
Reminds me of John 3:8......"You know well enough how the wind blows this way and that. You hear it rustling through the trees, but you have no idea where it comes from or where it's headed next. That's the way it is with everyone 'born from above' by the wind of God, the Spirit of God. MSG"
ReplyDeleteAs much as we learn more about Him everyday, we can never say for sure, I know all there is to know..
Very well written, i like! Expecting a book on your poems soon.
ReplyDeleteThanks. You will be seeing it sooner than you expect
Deletemind bugling poem...nice.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful ! Beautiful!! Beautiful!!! meLikey!
ReplyDeleteBless you sis! I think I want to agree with @thePETproject.
Bless your heart!

DeleteBeautiful ! Beautiful!! Beautiful!!! meLikey!
ReplyDeleteBless you sis! I think I want to agree with @thePETproject.
Bless your heart!
Interesting insights from your pen, Atilola. Keep it coming, Missy.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much ma.
DeleteIf we knew what He would do next the He wouldn't be God anymore because the mystery of how and why He does the things He does are part of what makes Him God. All we can do in the horrible place of waiting it to "go slow and grow", we've all read the Bible and cliches get really annoying when life hits hard but keep keeping the faith, go slow and grow & God will definately show up at the appointed time.
ReplyDeleteGod bless you very much for sharing
You are exactly right, Dosh. He wouldn't be God if we could predict Him. Though it could be frustrating when the God factor comes with so much pain in our lives.
DeleteThanks
One more thing, one of the reasons I haven't followed your blog for a while is because I can't comment. Just read your reason for that.
DeleteWould you consider putting it back in the nearest future? Thanks
Aaaawww... thanks so much for letting me know and still going ahead to follow. I'm definately getting to the place where traffic on my blog doesn't matter as much as passing a message across anymore so I'll consider enable comments again very soon.
DeleteI appreciate the feedback
Classic Mind-blowing piece! Though short, but Message well delivered.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much. And thanks for dropping by.
DeleteVery nice, I guess dats what makes him the "supreme being"
